First we took Cisco into the separate pen area and trimmed his feet. Pat does it with an electric sander thing, and it scares the horses but doesn't hurt them. Still, sometimes it's hard to get them used to it. Cisco handled it fairly well, and we finished him in not too much time. I videotaped the whole procedure.
Next came Chaco. He did not want that thing near him. He gave Pat so much trouble. For awhile I held him, but that didn't work, so Pat tried him with no one holding him. That didn't work, either. Whenever he pulled his foot away from her, she would make him run around in circles. First one way and then the other way. Then she tried again. He just would not submit, until he finally got tired of running around in circles. It took a long time, though. Finally, after a lot of circles and a lot of horse cookies, and a lot of Reiki! Pat got all four feet done.
Then, it was feeding time, and Chaco followed her around. I think he likes the horse cookies better than the hay!
Tonight, Shawn and Laura arrive. Tomorrow, we will see how it goes!
